  1. St Bridgets Day falls on the first of February. It is not a holiday of obligation. There are a great many customs through this country. Long ago little girls used to dress in old clothes and go about from house to house collecting pennies. In some house they used to get eggs and milk but nowadays the get money. They bring a Brideóg about with them and at every house the say a rhyme in Irish in honour of St Bridget's Day.
