    When the western sky is red at sunset is is a sign of fine weather.
    If a flock of crows come near a house it is said that one of its inhabitants will die.
    If a person going to a fair meet a fair-haired woman, 'tis beleived to be an omen of bad luck.
    It is said the when a star falls a soul goes to heaven.
    Good luck is beleived to come to a person who bows before a chimney-sweep.
    If a person who finds a horseshoe or anything made of tin or iron, spits on it, and throws it inside the ditch, good luck will come to him.
    When a cat turns his back to the fire 'tis a sign of rain.
    When the train's whistle is heard clearly about a mile from the railway 'tis a sign of frost.
    If a person hears the river's road on a still evening 'tis a sign of frost.
    If the stars are bright in the sky, 'tis a sign of frost.
    If the swallows fly low 'tis a sign of coming rain.
    If a brow frog enters the house 'tis a sign of rain.
    When sea-gulls leaves the sea and fly inland it is a sign of a storm at sea.
