    About seventy years ago Mr Smyth lived in Ardsollus Cottage.

    treasure seekers immediately sought safety in flight, leaving their tools after them.
    Next morning "the reddened earth" was seen, and the tools were appropriated by the caretaker of the abbey.
    Fifty or sixty years later this account of the treasure hunt was sent from America by a man named Whelan to Mrs Clune Quin who showed me the script.
