You evicted your peasants, ¶ To make room for the pheasants, ¶ And I want none of your presents

The grandfather of the present Lord Inchiquin, evicted fifty or sixty tenants to extend his demesne. He provided them with holdings in another portion of his estate. Some time afterwards the old Lord Inchiquin made a present of a brace of pheasants to the then Curate in Newmarket-on-Fergus. The priest was not at all pleased with the eviction of the tenants. He returned the pheasants with an accompanying note. On the note was written.—:
    You evicted your peasants,
To make room for the pheasants
And I want none of your presents.
