  1. About thirty years ago or so there was a team in this parish called Bearna Mor. At that time there were seventeen in a team.
    Each Sunday “Bearna Mor” of Ballymorris used hurl Brickhill , and it used be more of a fight than a hurling match.
    The fathers of the players used come and try to take the ball. Each player used make his own Hurley and they were not very particular about them.
    A stick with a knob in the end of it was quiet sufficient.
    Each team had a ball made of corks and thread, and covered outside with a waxed-end.
    A man named James Hickey was captain of the “Bearna Mor”, and Michael Gleason was captain of the Brickhill team. One ball used be hurled for one half-hour and the
