  1. As well as every other parish, the are several ruins in This one of Cratloe.
    For instance there are three castles in it,
    One of them is in the townland of Ballintlea.
    It was built in the beginning of the fifteenth century, by Siasa Mc Nasarat.
    It is nearly five hundred years old. In that castle Connicas Ruso Mac Con Mara was born and reared.
    Con is almost on [?] the second one is almost on the side of Cratloe main limerick Ennis Road about eighty or a hundred yards, for St Johns well, in the townland of cratloe-Kileely
    In the year sixteen hundred and fifty one,
    Ireton and his army came out to the castle to capture it, but did not succeed . He gave it over the people.
    Irfeton was a son-in-law fo Cromwell.
    The third one is the townland of Rossmanagher.
