Phonetic Form of Place Name - Killawinna.At one time the townland Killawinna was included int the townland of Monanoe .The old people always pronounced Monanoe- "Mhuinanoe".there may have been a connection between the "Bhuine" in Cill a Bhuine, and the Bhuine or Mhuine in "Mhuinanoe". The original townland may have been divided into two within the last three hundred years.Np mention of "Killawinna"is made in Frost's History of Clarewhich goes to show that the name Killawinna may be derived from the fact that a church was built there and this church may have been surrounded by a thicket.
