    A man named Bindon owned the Clooney estate, gave the site for the present nice Church.

    A man named Bindon owned the Clooney estate, gave the site for the present nice Church .He was a Protestant and gave the reason for giving it ,that he'd have a a Church and Chapel, lake and castle in his demense.
    He called the |Catholic Church a chapel .There is an old Church in the graveyard in his demense ,there is a lake near the "Big House"and there is an old castle at the other side of the lake.
    The old Church in the graveyard is called Saint Brecan's Church.It is built on a hill which commands a splendid view of the surrounding country.It is built tin the centre of the grandest scenery in Clare.it is said that St Brecan always built churches amidst the finest scenery.
