    Superstitions.
    1.Some people never like to meet a redhaired person when going on a journey.
    2.They never like to burn "elder".
    3.When making a churn they put "greesuch" under the churn.
    4.They also put the head of the tongs into the fire while making the churn.

    6.They never like to remove except on a Friday.
    7.They never like to hear the cock crowing at midnight or the dog howling.
    8.It is unlucky to slip in a graveyard.
    9.It is considered bad to get a pain in the head in a graveyard.
    10.It is considered unlucky for a woman to wish you "well wear".
    11.It is considered unlucky for cows to be "tripped"by a spancel in May Eve.
    12. Superstitious persons put spancels in corn and in potatoes to take the crop from their their neighbours.
