  1. There is a well situated to the west of Ennis. In olden times a gentleman lived in Newhall house. They had a cellar in which they kept wine. This day the man went to the cellar and he found all the wine drank. In his rage he took out the butler and drowned him in the lake. Every seven years the water in the lake used to turn red.
