  1. In the townland of Gurteennelig there is supposed to be a gold shoe hidden under a stone. A good many years ago a robber stole the shoe from some rich people in the Co. Galway, he was followed and he was overtaken at Gurteennelig and by some magic power he put the shoe in under the stone which is very big. He was captured but wouldn't give in to where he had it hidden. In later years a certain man from near the village of Chrusheen Co. Clare dreamt that the shoe was hidden under the stone, he asked questions about the locality, having found the place exactly as he had dreamt. The following night he came with two other men to remove the stone and get the shoe, they holed the stone
