- In the townland of Glandree there lived a man by the name of Paddy Hegarty who owned a nice cottage with about ten acres of land. There was a fort adjoining Paddy's farm where Paddy often said he used to hear music regularly and especially about twelve o'clock in the day. Paddy was married to a beautiful lady and to add to his happiness he was the father of three fine girls. The only regret the family had in their life was that Paddy had a large hump on his back. Outside of that he was a very good-looking man. One evening as he was taking a stroll around this fort, he met a very small little man with a green cap. Paddy asked the little chap his name. He answered and said his name was Monday. "O" said Paddy that is a grand name" Paddy asked him who was his father, he said his father was Tuesday. He asked him who was his mother (was Wednesday) he said his mother was Wednesday. He asked him had he any brothers or(continues on next page)
