  1. A man from Bodyke went to England,
    Exactly Saint Patrick's Day;
    Was lighting his pipe when he landed,
    John Bull, for a joke, came the way.
    Says John - "Are you all well in Ireland?
    How are my friends over there -
    The troublesome landlords and graziers;
    What member's elected for Clare?"
    Said the man,"All are well in old Ireland
    Bad landlords and graziers no more:
    In Clare - Colonel Lynch is elected,
    'Fore long he will dance on your floor.
    With a gun at Kilrush, on I leaving,
    The same one he used when a Boer;
    He said he'd keep punching your body
    Till you give back the keys of the door."
    Said John Bull, "Is it Lynch that's elected?
    The country you came from, I'm dammed.
    Every member they sent, like O'Connell,
    For the keys they connived and they planned.
    And now, to annoy me, they're sending
    A man they well knew when a Boer;
