  1. A man named Frank Carlin, Killatee, Cootehill, Co. Cavan who went to America and died in it about thirty years ago was a good composer of songs and poems. One song which he made was "The Swift Flowing Annalee".

  2. About eighty years ago there lived a man named John Reilly in the townland of Drumbrade, Cootehill. Co. Cavan. He composed many songs, the best known of these being "The Meeting of Cootehill".

    In the homes of noble Ulster,
    Each heart with joy did fill,
    To hear tell of this great meeting
    That was held at famed Cootehill.
    It was the most imposing sight
    And count them as you will,
    Fifty thousand loyal hearts
    Assembled there that day.
