  1. It is unlucky to go into the water on Whit Sunday. If a child is born on Whit Sunday it is supposed to kill somebody. If a hen is set on Sunday she is liable to bring out a bird with either two heads or four feet. If a cow calved on Friday the calf's ears is supposed to be cut a inch deep and if this is not done the calf will die.
