  1. In the Penal Days in this locality the priests were not allowed to say Mass. But they said Mass on the side of some rock in the dark of night. There are several Mass Rocks in this locality.
One is in Mr. John Carrolan's Rock, Drumgoon, Cootehill, Co. Cavan. There are holes cut in the rock for the Host and Chalice and the candles.
When the priest would be saying Mass some of the people would watch on the hill top for the coming of the soldiers because in those days a price of five pounds was given to anyone who would bring in the head of a priest.
