  1. About eighty years ago a man named Patrick Kettyle, Killrue, Cootehill, Co. Cavan got married to a girl named Miss Ellie Dowd, Drumnaveel, Cootehill.
    When the marriage was over they all went to the nearest town and drank whiskey and porter. The only way of travelling in those days was on sidecars and horses. When they were finished drinking they put the horses in the cars and they all started to gallop their horses to see which of them would get home first.
    At a place between Foy's Mill and Mr. McEntee's cross when one car was passing another one of them overturned and fell into a stream. Miss Reilly, the bridesmaid, got her leg broken.
