- About one hundred years ago the people of this locality made their own candles.
They used to cut rushes and let them wither. Then they got resin and boiled it. Then they peeled the rushes and rolled the resin round them and the rush was in the middle for a wick.- Collector

- In days gone past some eighty or ninety years ago home weaving was a great trade particularly in Ulster, and this work was done by means of a loom made by craftsmen specially for that purpose. The man who worked the loom turned out fine webs of linen and also woollen(continues on next page)
