  1. The industry carried on in this district in olden times was spinning. Mrs Brady, Drumgoon, Cootehill had a spinning wheel and she always occupied her time in spinning. She is dead about eighty years and the spinning wheel is still about the house, but many parts of it are broken.
    Basket-making was also carried on by a man named Paddy Farrell, Lattyloo, Cootehill. He made every sort of different shaped baskets and he sold them to the people of the district and got a high price.
