  1. About seventy or eighty years ago there was a small thatched school in the townland of Drumbinnis in the place where Frank Carney has his house now. There were only a few dozen scholars in it and each child had to bring a turf with him every day to make a fire. It was a man who taught in it and his name was Master Quaills. He did not take any lodging because he lived in the school.
    The children sat on little benches and they wrote with pencils
