  1. In the year 1839 there was a very big wind. A pensioner named Thomas Brady and his wife who lived in the townland of Lurganboy, Cootehill, Co. Cavan were sleeping in bed when they found the channel coming in from the roof. The man told his wife that the house was going to fall and to get up. They got up and went to their neighbour's house. Before they reached their neighbour's house, the bedclothes were blown out of their own house and blown onto the road before them. The roof was blown in and if they
