  1. In the troubled times the most exciting happening was a raid which the Black and Tans made in the year 1921. They started from Canningstown and searched all the houses in the townlands of Latsey, Tonnyhull, Kilnacrew, Latully, Dernakesh and Corragarry. They took all the men they could get and brought them away in a lorry to a field near Wright's Cross. They were inspected by some Police Officers and as none of them were identified as wanted men they were all set free and they had to walk home.
    As it was Sunday morning it was hard for some of them to get to Mass because it was late and some of them had their old clothes and boots on them but they went to Maudabawn Mass.
