  1. Not very long ago, workmen were taking down Bailieborough Castle. There was a haunted room in this castle which was unoccupied and the men took off the door. That evening a man heard somebody speaking in the room and he went down and saw a large rat lying on the caretaker's bed.
    The rat talked to him and spat at him but the man made a noise and the rat turned into a serpent and went out through the key-hole.
