- Long ago there lived in France a man who had one daughter. Three suitors asked her father for his daughter in marriage but he said: Let her choose for herself.” and she said: “I need all three.” The father was annoyed and said: “Let the three of you set out to seek your fortune and who ever is the luckiest shall marry her. The three set out and in some time after met on a foreign shore. The first met a poor man who asked him to buy a small mirror but he said, “Of what use is it to me” Well“ said the man when owner of it you can see who so ever you wish to see. He sold the mirror to the first man. Next day the same man met the second suitor and asked him to buy a box of balm. The suitor said “Of what use is it to me”. “Well” said the man it has power to raise the dead to life(continues on next page)
