- There was a family in this district who ceased attending Mass. One day a poor man called looking for alms but they told him they could not give him any as they were very poor. He told them to go to Mass on Sundays and that everything would go right, and so it did. It is the belief in this district that anyone who is late for Mass besides it been a grievous sin they would have bad luck during the week. A protestant women in this district emptied out a bottle of holy water belonging to her servant girl. The following night she nearly died. She told the girl to replace what was in the bottle as it was unlucky to be without it.Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
