  1. I am a roving hackler I love the shamrock shore;
    My name is Pat Mac Donnell
    and my age is eighty four.
    I am loved and well respected by my friends and neighbours all;
    In sweet Stradone I am well known, around Laragh and Grousehall.
    When I was young I danced and sung and drank good whiskey too,
    In each shebeen shop that sold a drop of The Real Old Mountain Dew.
    There was a poteen still, on every hill where the Peelers had no call;
    And on St Patricks day I long to stray for pleasure around Grousehall.
