- There are two tailors in the district. One is Mr McKenna, Drumully and the other is Mr Michael Kelly, Tamlett. The tailors used to work at their homes but they also used to go about from house to house.
They did not stock cloth but if you wanted a suit they could show you some patterns from which you could choose the kind of cloth you liked best. About sixty years ago cloth was spun and woven locally but about thirty years ago cloth was spun.
These are some of the implements that the tailors use when working. "The goose", "the" "lab-board", "the scissors" the thimble, the tape and the chalk.
Shirts were made in the homes of the people in this district. They were made from calico and were lined with linen.
This linen was made locally.
Socks and stockings are still knitted locally. The thread is not spun in the homes now but it is bought. However long ago the wool was spun into very coarse yarn at the homes of the people.
