the crumbs were let fall round her.
Long ago when two persons went to get married they went on horseback. When they were coming home a race was run to see who would be at the bride's home first. Sometimes the bride rode a white horse. About thirty years ago people in this district went to get married on side - cars. There were usually seven or eight side - cars at a wedding. The bride's car went first to the church. The bride came home in the groom's car and this car left the church first.
On Shrove Tuesday night pancakes are made and all the girls in the house turn one pancake each and whoever turns it the most they would be the first to get married.
