    By Billies pound I rambled round
    The meadows green to view
    Where the cowslips and the daisies
    Are lightly tipped with dew
    Where the primrose and the blue-bell
    And violets close their breasts
    And the honey bee I'll tell to thee
    Flies home to take her rest
    The milk maid with her heavy pail
    Homeward she winds her way
    And lowing herds forsake their shades
    At the closing of the day.
    A damsel fair beyond compare
    Came sweeping down the line.
    With robe of silk and costly wear
    Like a jewel she did shine
    Had Paris seen the maid serene
    She appeared so free from care
    The Greecian Queen he would distain
    And stop the Trojan war
    Her eyes were like the diamonds bright
    And her cheeks were like the rose.
    She's the model of all nature
    And the pride of Ankel (Anketell) grove.
    It's carelessly I did advance
    To accost the blooming maid.
    While on the plain she stood a while
