    gold and began counting it. At last he got tired and fell asleep in his chair. Jack lifted the crock of gold on his head and ran down the beanstalk to his mother.
    He went up again the third morning. He knocked at the door of the giant's castle and the old woman came out. "You are a right fat boy" said the woman and I will eat you myself. She pushed him into a cupboard but she did not get time to close the door when the giant came in shouting "Him Ham I smell the breath an an Irishman be him living or be him dead I'll have his living to my bread tomorrow morning." "I burned the tail of my skirt and that is the smell you find" said the woman.
    The giant then got down his harp and began to play. But the sweet music put him and his wife to sleep. Jack tiptoed over and lifted the harp but as he was going out on the door the harp called out "Master, Master, Master. Down the beanstalk came the giant and his wife one
