But yet not forced to yield
    The Wexford boys
    Were never slack
    With Tipperary
    At their back
    And Longford joined.
    to win a crack
    Soon drove them
    Off the field.
    They gave three cheers
    For liberty
The enemy all broke and flee.
    I looked around
    But could not see
    A foeman on the plain
    Except the men
    That wounded lay
When I awoke t'was break of day
    So ends McKenna's Dream.
