    The blooming laurel tree.
    I thought Saint Ruth
    Stood on the ground
    And said I'll be
    Your monarch crown
    In compassed by
    The French around
    He marched into the field.
    He raised the cross.
    And thus did say
    "Brave boys will show
    Them gallanet play
    Let no man dare
    To run away
    We'll die before we yield."
    I thought the bands
    Played "Patrick's Day"
    When marching all
    In grand array.
    With cap and feather
    Bright and gay.
    They marched in warlike glow.
