  1. (Composed by Paddy Corrigan, Lisdoonan, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan.)
I'll tell yous a story and a story that's true,
And it's all about the time that me wife took the Flu.
It was in the middle of the night that the craythur took bad
And she was roarin' and baulin' with the pain o' her head.
The weather was stormy with hailstones and sleet
And she was shoutin' like blazes with the cauld of her feet.
I got a few pot-lids and I threw them in the fire
And if I didn't get trouble yous may call me a liar.
