  1. 57. Funeral customs:-
    1. 59. Criers used be engaged in this district and paid a fee for caoining over the dead. This was done most in case of death of a young person.
    Custom of "keening" continued until about a hundred years ago.
    2. After death a person's two big toes used be tied together for fear they'd come back.
    This custom was the origin of the curse:-
    "Marbh faisce ort"
    3. Coffins used be all home-made and materials for same used be purchased years before so as to have wood well seasoned.
    4. In laying out of corpse nothing should be handed across remains.
    5. No garment should be pinned, buttoned or fastened on dead person.
