  1. A story
One night when Thomas Brown’s grandfather was in bed at the dead of night he heard a loud knocking at the window. He asked who was there and someone shouted in “Get up”. “I won’t” he answered. “If you don’t you will be sorry in the morning” said the voice. “Why”? he asked. “The cows are in the haggard eating the oats” said the voice. He jumped out of bed and put on his clothes and went out. No sooner was he outside than he was caught by three men who brought him out on the road. There was a coffin laid on the fence and they asked him to help them carry the coffin to Teampall Fenóch. When they reached the graveyard they thanked him and told him to go back by the fields and to keep this journey a secret for a year and a day and he did.
