The Slieve Garbh was so called because many years ago it was rough and coarse like the side of a mountain.

Cnoc na Hovels was so called because it was hilly and uneven.

The Clogher was so called because it was once full of ground stones and muddy.

The Inch was so called because it is beside a river.

The Páircín was so called because it is a small field reclaimed from a large uncultivated portions of land.
