  2. When Christmas is coming the people clean and white-wash their houses. The boys go for holly and laurel. My mother puts it on the house. She puts it on the top of the pictures and on the dresser. On Christmas Eve night my father lights the Christmas candle. All the family is present. When he has lit it we say a few prayers and he wishes us all a happy Christmas.
    On Christmas Day all the family stay at home. People do not usually go out on that night too. On St. Stephen;s Day it is a custom with the boys to go out hunting the wren and they collect a lot of money. They sing the old song "The Wren, the wren" the king of all birds, St. Stephen's Day he was caught in the furze. Although he is little his family is great, yet up the old lady and
