  1. There were no fairs held in this parish long ago. There is supposed to be a special field for fairs now called the fair green. Tolls are paid on every beast sold and they are paid to the owner of the fair green. About two or three pence in every beast according to age. Earnest money is given when you buy the beast. Luck penny is generally given from a penny to a half crown.
