  1. In former times people did not wear boots until there were twenty years of age. There was a man in Tipperary called Bill Ryan who never wore a shoe nor a stocking.
    There is a custom that if you did not throw out the water you washed your feet in before you would go to bed you should put a lighted coal in it.
