    In olden times people sought remedies for ailments in herbs. Ricketts in children is supposed to be cured by bringing the child three mornings in succession before sunrise to a local forge where dust off the anvil is sprinkled on it. The child was then passed three times between a horses legs. Thrush in a child's mouth is said to be cured by a posthumous person three mornings in sucession before sunrise. There is a local belief that milk left after a ferret would cure Whooping Cough.
