  1. People in former times sought remedies for ailments from people called men curer's and women curers: A toothache was cured by putting a frog into the mouth of the sufferer. Ned Quirke of Rossadrehid, George Cussen of Rossbog, and Mrs. O'Brien of Ardane are able to cure Thrush. They have these power's because they were born after their father's death's. Thrush is a disease int he mouth and a post-humous child is supposed to visit the (child) sick person's house three mornings in succession fasting and breathe into the person's mouth. The milk left after a ferret is supposed to cure Whooping ough.
    To wash your head in Saint Berrahert's well, Ardane, would cure a headache.
