In the year called the black '47 a famine broke out owing to the failure of the potato crop.
In those times potatoes was the chief meal and the people could not live without potatoes.
A disease called the "Cholera" also broke out and the people were found dead in hundreds in the streets.
My great-grandmother was a nurse and she lived at that time.
As she was walking through the streets she met a woman who was carrying a box which was in the shape of a coffin. She asked the woman what was in the box and the woman told her it was her son who was after dying, and that she was going to bury him. My great-grandmother then helped her to bury him.
