- At first the wool is bought by the pound from a wool store or from a farmer.
it is then pulled to extract the knots and if they cannot be got out, it is put on carders.
Those carders are made of wood with pieces of wire at each end and can be pulled in and out.
The wool is then put on a spinning wheel to be made into thread.
There is a little round hole in the spinning wheel with little spikes all around it, a piece of wool is put into it and made into a ball, there is another hole in the spinning wheel and when the thread is pulled through it, it can be made into any ply you like. The thread is then washed and dyed.- Collector
