    An American, - John Gleeson, painter - was papering a hall, there were roses on the paper. The man wanted to make his own flag, so he put the paper on in stripes and said the roses would do for the stars. The Stars and stripes of America.

    A man named Mick Ryan was always talking about what he would do if he won £30 pounds. His neighbours were asking him what he was going to do. Mick thought for a minute and then said "I'll count it first
