  1. The birds that are found in our district are the swallows, the sea-gulls, the black-bird, the thrush, the cuckoo, the robins, the pigeons, and the wild ducks.
    Both the black bird and the thrush love to have their nests in the hedge because they are timid. From it's shelter they can see danger without being seen. Another reason for their preference is that on a winter day the earth at the bottom of the hedge is the most likely place in which to find a stray morsel of food some seed or berry that has been overlooked till now.
    there is a streamlet situated at the back of our house, in which wild ducks are to be seen every Summer and at the end of Summer they go away. The pigeon makes his nest in a holly tree in a field a little bit away from our garden, and any person who steals a pigeon's egg is supposed to regret it all his life.
    The corncrake makes his nest in long grass in a meadow about a hundred yards from our house. He goes away every
