  1. Landlords
    The landlord of Alderford was MacDermottroe. Often when his tennants were unable to pay the rent he gave them an extra month to do so. Once he gave a man from the mountain a chance, and let him have two months in which he was to gather the rent. The day before the landlord came the man made good his escape. MacDermottroe was disgusted with this and was much more exact with his tenants ever after. Alderford house is now occupied by a Ballyfarnon Guard called O'Brien. The house
