There is one old woman aged seventy in it who knows a little Irish. There is one ruin of a house in the district where a family named John MacDermott's lived. The same place is yet called Johnnies.
The land is rich and hilly with no wood. A river is running through it and it is situated in front of Lough Key. Several passes run through it. Oats, potatoes, and wheat are its principal crops.
