  1. Dear harp of my country enshrouded with shamrocks,
    Will the days of thy numbers again come full soon.
    Lo, here in Kilronan poor Carolan is lying.
    Had he lived for a century,
    How proudly we'd bloom.

    But death's certain summons peeped o'er his violin,
    His harp and his heart beating ever so low.
    The strains of his music, his pulses are dying.
    The last of the bards feels his fair harp no more.
