    It's many the pleasant evening
    Together we did stray
    It grieves my heart to part,

    To friends so kind and you behind,
    In the parish of sweet Kilmoe.
    Oh, sad and lonely was that hour
    When I was forced to part
    From parents dear and comrade boys
    And the fond ones of my heart
    On a foreign strand I mean to land
    My fortune to pursue
    But the scenes behind I'll bear in mind
    Of my home in sweet Kilmoe
    At many the fair in sweet Goleen
    We spent a happy day,
    In dancing and in singing
    The time we passed away
    The flowing glass around did pass
    Our spirits did renew
    I'll never forget, though far away
    My home in sweet Kilmoe
