  1. On the lands of Mr Charles Smith Croans Ardatten there is a mound just beside the public road. It is not a rath but might have been a portion of one. It is said that a former owner was ploughing in the field and that he took a sod off the bottom of the mound and his horses though quiet refused to travel any further. They sweated with fear and he had to unyoke them. One of them is supposed to have died that night killed by a fairy.
